Felting Workshop
About this event:
Wool Education and Felting - Felt is not your standard precut sheets from the store. Study the ancient, sustainable art form of felting as we create functional pieces of art using materials direct from their source! Participants will learn about and work with raw sheep wool from our 3 ewes: Clover, Peach, and Hazelnut. Using wool, soap, and water we will make one of a kind pieces of felt.
Revive the Roots and Artists' Exchange brought sheep to Mowry Commons in 2017! This program involves individuals from local group homes in the Smithfield area, who come to Mowry Commons daily, to care for and learn about sheep. The wool which is sheared from the sheep twice a year is used for arts programming in part with the Artists Exchange.

About this event:

Cooking outside is the best, less mess to clean, plus the smells of fresh air and wood smoke. Spring herbs will inspire our biscuits as we play with seasonal flavors. All participants will bring home the biscuits they make! Gluten and/or dairy free biscuit options available. Email [email protected] if you would like to make gluten free or dairy free biscuits.

Plein Air Painting
About this event:
Plein air painting is a technique in which we leave our studio behind and experience painting and drawing the landscape around us. This practice dates back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by French Impressionists such as Caude Monet and Auguste Renoir. Mowry Commons is full of beautiful hidden landscape gems. Explore the property, and apply what you’ve learned about impressionism to create your own landscape painting of the great outdoors.
Join artists Shannon Casey and Hannah Purcell Martin for wonder in the woods with an artists' eye. Paint set provided but full free to bring you favorite travel set!
Made possible by Artists' Exchange and Rhode Island State Council for the Arts. Free - Register Here!
