So What is CSA?
CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture”
It’s an annual commitment to a farm through an upfront payment in the spring, in-turn we get to support you weekly from June - October by growing all sorts of veggies and fruits! The commitment to a CSA builds a farm community that supports each other and the efforts to localize our food system.
Leah Penniman from Soul Fire Farm put it perfectly, comparing the payment system to a “Netflix” subscription. Do you want to get unlimited access to movies for the year? Then go buy a year long subscription to Netflix. Same with a CSA. Do you want to get veggies for the season? Then purchase a CSA from a local farm!

What To Expect?
In the Spring, you will sign up for a share at Revive The Roots. The sign-up will guide you through choosing a pick-up day, payment plan, and the size of the weekly share. You will get a follow-up email confirming your sign-up, your chosen payment plan and additional information regarding pick-up location and start date.
Our CSA will start the first or second week of June, with the pick-up continuing weekly sometime in September. During the 15 weeks as a CSA member, you will come to your pick-up location during the designated time and leave with your weekly share of mixed vegetables! A person from Revive The Roots will be present at every pick-up.

Our Growing Practices
If you don’t feel like reading a long winded explanation. Below is a “TLDR” (too long; didn't read) version.
We grow your food using practices that support the relationship with our soil, surrounding plants, animals, water, air and of course, you! We do not use chemicals (organic or synthetic) to produce your food and make an effort to purchase any off-farm products needed from businesses local to New England. The majority of your vegetables being grown are ‘Open Pollinated’ varieties, allowing us to save seed for future years!
Elaborating further...
Since 2011, Revive The Roots made it their goal to foster strong relationships with our ecosystem and community. “Production” wasn’t the focus with the small diversified plantings scattered throughout the landscape. But what has been created over the past 11 years is a piece of land that is lush with biodiversity and a place where vegetables can grow alongside systems that take years to foster and establish. Do you know that Chinese proverb, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”? Well, Revive was able to plant these trees, bushes, herbs, 11 years ago building the start to a place where the community can gather safely on open space among the many fruit trees and native plants of Rhode Island.
Our growing practices are something we get excited to talk about! We are a group of growers who come from many backgrounds. From permaculture practices, organic methods, homesteading, urban gardening, container growing, market gardening, farming with our grandma’s and learning the passed down knowledge that can only be described as intuitive at this point. We pull from these experiences and continue to learn from each other to adapt systems that give back more than we take.
It’s pretty simple! Listen to the voice in your head that says “Leave it better than you found it” and that’s Revive’s growing practices in a nutshell.

What’s exciting about Revive’s CSA?
Revive is located at Mowry Commons, a property that is open to the public year round to wander and learn alongside the plants. Mowry Commons is rich with medicinal herbs, native edibles, mushrooms and fruit scattered throughout the property. Along with your weekly share of vegetables, we will be including other edible or medicinal plants for you to learn about and taste!
We realize that it can be kind of intimidating to try new vegetables; we will be sending out a weekly newsletter of what to expect in the share and a take home recipe card that might inspire you to cook a vegetable that you are unsure about!
Revive also hosts workshops, community potlucks, seed swaps and volunteer days! The community is ever growing at Mowry Commons and is a space for us to co-create and learn from each other.
